Leaving the rain behind us in Italy we arrived back in Croatia at 1430hrs to warmth and sunshine! After clearing customs we walked into town and ate at the marina restaurant. I've seen plenty of razor clams underwater but never served in a dish! It was a bit like chewing rubber, only not as tasty.

Another marina stay after making ground towards Greece. To celebrate our anniversary (11 years together) we had dinner at a local restaurant and ate Baci chocolates whilst watching one of our favourite crime dramas. Life is good!

A favourite bay of ours, and we had it all to ourselves. What a magnificent day, sunny and warm. We've gone from wet weather gear and thermals to tank tops and shorts in the space of three days! The water is warming up too, we were able to stay in for a few more seconds.
If there are any advantages to having to get up to pee during the night it's seeing a bowl full of bioluminescence when you flush. I'll never tire of those iridescent little sparkles of nature.

A refuelling and provisioning stop, and a sad farewell to our beautiful ladies at the market. They always give us extra fruit and veggies 'gratis', but today Vesna gave us a special gift of some seed pods. She wrote down the name for us to look up on the internet - Rogač - which turned out to be Carob. How delightful! Now I just need to figure out what to do with them.

A favourite shelter of ours with the imposing wall of a medieval fortress that isolates the Oštrica peninsula from the mainland, and we had the place to ourselves! At least for the first night.
With the weather that was forecast we anticipated being here a few days. Colin was concerned when I got super excited about our new ice-cube tray whilst making drinks. He thought it was a little early to be getting cabin fever, given this happened on Sunday, and he feared for my sanity. A friend of mine has written a song called "Stir Crazy" and I often have cause to sing it. Still, we survived. I'm already crazy so he didn't need to worry. We kept ourselves busy with exercises, sewing, reading, studying, and the occasional quick swim, waiting out the wind and rain 'til we could head south to Split.
With the help of YouTube I figured out what to do with the carob pods. Eat them! Simple really. I had assumed you would do something with the seeds but in fact you eat the whole pod, and the seeds were too hard to eat so I kept them aside and I'm going to try grinding them to powder. Stay tuned...

Split is one of my favourite places in Croatia. I simply love the fact you can walk within the walls of Diocletian's Palace, touted to be one of the most imposing Roman ruins in existence, and now the main hub of the city.
As we walked into the old town from the marina we were assailed by the malodorous scent of sewerage. We had forgotten that about Split. I asked Colin why it smelled so and he replied, "Because it's an effluent city." He's a funny man.
