Rottnest Island (return), Sept 20 - 30
Rottnest Island 200nm, 39.5hr sail
Any attempts to get back to the Abrolhos from Geraldton were hampered by the obstructive "Huey", and with a break in the weather forecast for the Saturday and a most unfavourable front forecast for the Sunday we decided we'd better get down to Rotto as soon as possible. Wise move. We made in into Thompson Bay around 11.30pn Saturday, and Sunday all hell broke loose! "Send it down Huey" we cried. The winds blew up to 30kns and the rain was unrelenting for the whole of Sunday. Once upon a time I would have thought of such conditions as unacceptable, but these days I just say "Oh you think THAT'S bad?!"
